Hero Partners with Trustfull to Streamline SME Onboarding and Combat Fraud

Since its founding in 2021, Hero has been on a remarkable growth journey. On a mission to deliver “a single platform to accept payments and finance your company”, the Paris-based Fintech offers an extensive product suite that includes business accounts, payment gateways, and tailored financial tools.

Having raised more than €18M in funding to date, in December 2024 Hero also secured its payment institution license from the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority (ACPR). Leveraging the European Banking Union's passporting mechanism, this license enables Hero to operate seamlessly in nearly 30 countries, accelerating its expansion into markets like Italy and Spain.

However, scaling across Europe brought new challenges, particularly in ensuring secure and efficient customer onboarding for its vast range of SME customers. Looking to find an efficient and cross-border solution, Hero selected Trustfull’s fraud prevention and identity intelligence technology.

With Trustfull, Hero is now able to:

1. Verify new business account requests in seconds: Trustfull analyzes signals from users’ provided email, phone, and IP data to verify the identity of business owners and self-employed people, distinguishing legitimate requests from high-risk ones.
2. Detect fraud patterns with no impact on the UX: Using graph technology, Trustfull flags suspicious links between multiple applications, such as phone numbers or email addresses used across multiple requests, without slowing down genuine customers unnecessarily.
3. Customize risk rules with a no-code solution: Trustfull’s rule engine allows Hero to tailor fraud prevention strategies to market-specific risks quickly and easily.
